ANIMAL-ASSISTED LEARNING & BEHAVIOUR INTERVENTION
Children
& Animals
Learning through connection, curiosity, and the relationships we share with animals.
Individualized learning experiences for neurodivergent children and young people on Salt Spring Island and area, shaped around what interests them most.

There is more than one way to learn.
Communication
Noticing an animal’s signals, understanding needs, and discovering new ways to express ourselves.

Problem-solving
Practising planning, choice-making, and cooperation through meaningful activities.

Connection
Building confidence, curiosity, and respect for both human and animal boundaries.

AN INDIVIDUAL APPROACH
Every child is different.
Some children love teaching a dog something new. Others enjoy observing behaviour, helping with daily care, or simply spending time together.
Sessions follow each child's interests, strengths, and sensory needs. We may work with your family's dog or, when suitable, an animal I provide.
The comfort, safety, and choice of both child and animal guide every session.

Behaviour Intervention Support
For children with an established intervention plan, animal-assisted activities can provide a meaningful setting for working toward developmental goals. As a Behaviour Interventionist, I work with families and qualified supervising professionals to implement agreed strategies within the child's plan.
